Zoo Diet NaviGator requires:

  • Computers
    • ZDN is designed to be used on a Windows computer
      • Running a licensed copy of Microsoft Office with Microsoft Access (the free MS Access Runtime is not sufficient)
      • Office 2010 and later should be supported. Earlier Office versions may work as well – it is unknown.
    • Alternatives to Windows PCs (likely very $$$):
      • Mac or Linux computer
        • Running a licensed copy of Parallels or other Windows emulation software
        • A licensed copy of Windows
        • A licensed copy of Microsoft Office for Windows with Microsoft Access
      • Virtual machines (can be accessed from any machine, even tablet OS machines)
        • Docker or Azure virtual machines can be configured with licenses for Windows and Office with Access.
        • Pricing is usually by number of users and number of hours in use, so varies, but likely rather pricey.
        • Requires constant internet connection
  • Monitors
    • Minimum screen resolution required for both regular use and touchscreen use is 1920 x 1080. Bigger is better – some screens are quite info-dense and benefit from large monitors.
    • ⚠ In Windows > Settings > Display, change the “Scale and Layout” to 100% for maximum readability on small laptops or monitors.
    • The following touchscreen setups are known to work. Likely many other combos work as well:
      • HP E220t touchscreen monitors with Dell Optiplex 7040 mini-workstations attached to the back; mounted on Ergotron pivoting support arm
      • Elo Touch 2294L 21.5″ Class 1080p HD Touchscreen Monitor connected to HP desktop workstations
  • Paper
    • Reports (non-labels) can be printed on A4 or US-Letter paper
    • Diet labels are 1 x 2 5/8″ (Avery 5160, 5260, 6460, 8160, and many other common mailing label templates)
