Software and Hardware specifications
Zoo Diet NaviGator requires:
- Computers
- ZDN is designed to be used on a Windows computer
- Running a licensed copy of Microsoft Office with Microsoft Access (the free MS Access Runtime is not sufficient)
- Office 2010 and later should be supported. Earlier Office versions may work as well – it is unknown.
- Alternatives to Windows PCs (likely very $$$):
- Mac or Linux computer
- Running a licensed copy of Parallels or other Windows emulation software
- A licensed copy of Windows
- A licensed copy of Microsoft Office for Windows with Microsoft Access
- Virtual machines (can be accessed from any machine, even tablet OS machines)
- Docker or Azure virtual machines can be configured with licenses for Windows and Office with Access.
- Pricing is usually by number of users and number of hours in use, so varies, but likely rather pricey.
- Requires constant internet connection

- ZDN is designed to be used on a Windows computer
- Monitors
- Minimum screen resolution required for both regular use and touchscreen use is 1920 x 1080. Bigger is better – some screens are quite info-dense and benefit from large monitors.
- ⚠ In Windows > Settings > Display, change the “Scale and Layout” to 100% for maximum readability on small laptops or monitors.
- The following touchscreen setups are known to work. Likely many other combos work as well:
- HP E220t touchscreen monitors with Dell Optiplex 7040 mini-workstations attached to the back; mounted on Ergotron pivoting support arm
- Elo Touch 2294L 21.5″ Class 1080p HD Touchscreen Monitor connected to HP desktop workstations
- Paper
- Reports (non-labels) can be printed on A4 or US-Letter paper
- Diet labels are 1 x 2 5/8″ (Avery 5160, 5260, 6460, 8160, and many other common mailing label templates)
