By Ingredient (Assembly Line) vs. By Diet Style
NEW: Updated February 2025
These terms are used when setting up a Group Diet. The default setting is By Diet.
These specific terms may change (they are somewhat confusing, so suggestions for better terms are welcomed!), but the concept will remain:
By Diet – this describes the most common way of preparing diets – all the foods for a given animal get prepared at the same time and placed together in one or more containers (bags, bins, etc.).
For example, Fluffy the unicorn (Diet #123) gets apples, bananas, and carrots in a small bin. All of these are weighed out at the same time.
Assembly/By Ingredient prep – this describes a method more commonly seen in aquarium or carnivore diets. In this case, all of the same FEEDS get prepped together. For example, all of the capelin for every diet (Diets #67, #68, #69, #90, #94 etc.) is prepared at once, followed by all of the herring for every diet, then all of the rodents for every diet.
