Setup Tips

From ZDN User Guide
  • There is no diet 1. There will never be a diet 1. This is part of how the program works. Please just start with Diet 2.
  • The first diet (Diet 2) will likely get a lot of random edits to it. People click things on the first diet. They try to search by overwriting the species. For whatever reason, the first diet (Diet 2) always gets messed up. For this reason, I always label it the "Sacrificial First Diet" and use it to test things and show features to people. My recommendation is to use it as a dummy diet and start your real diets with Diet 3.
  • Diet Group 1 must remain "Not in a Group". I like to put a period in front of ".Not in a Group" so that option always remains at the top.
  • Diet Group numbers should be large. Start at 9000 or higher. You don't want diets and diet groups to share the same numbers.
  • In Access, all new data entry is on the bottom row. If you don't see a blank line where you can add a food, animal, nutrient, or whatever, scroll to the bottom of the list and you can likely add a new value there.
