Special Orders refers to items that are requested for a single use. Common examples of this would be:
- Food used to hide a medication
- Foods for a special event/VIP tour
- A food to try to see if an animal likes it
- A special enrichment item
In general, foods that are regularly requested should go on diets, not Special Orders. The Special Orders should be reviewed regularly (using the Special Orders Report) to determine if items are being ordered frequently enough to merit adding to the diet.
Foods assigned to Special Orders will appear on diet labels printed for a given day and in the Touchscreen. Of course, you will need to ensure that the orders are placed well enough in advance that there is time for those to appear.
